Oxygen Bleach Grout Cleaner Is Environment Friendly
Depending on how you look at it, tiles for a bathroom floor either help you keep that bathroom floor sparkling clean, or make it impossible for you to really keep a clean bathroom floor. The problem with titles of course is that there necessarily have to be joints between tiles; and the grouting that goes into that joint isn’t smooth stuff. When it gets dirty, not only can it be difficult to scrub out effectively with a scrubber, it can even be difficult to reach – hiding in a groove between tiles as it is. Usually, you get recommended corrosive grout cleaning chemicals like chlorine bleach. If sitting in a bathroom full of fumes and poisoning the groundwater isn’t your idea of responsible cleaning, usually, you have no alternative but to turn to ineffective solutions like vinegar and baking soda. Now this is where oxygen bleach grout cleaner comes in.
Certainly, this product comes with the word “bleach” in it. You’re probably wondering if it can really be environmentally friendly. But it is; oxygen bleach grout cleaners are usually sold in the form of very dilute hydrogen peroxide – usually about three parts to a hundred of water. That’s typically too weak for anything as tough as grimy grouting. You should probably go with a product like Biokleen or OxiClean which use sodium percarbonate.
So how do you use this strange environmentally friendly product? The first thing you do is to prepare a solution with the powder you bought. You will get instructions on the tin; but usually, it’s something like 2 tablespoons to a cup of water. For the average sized bathroom, you’ll probably need 15 cups of water and 30 tablespoons of oxygen bleach grout cleaner. The cleaning part comes pretty easily with this cleaner.
You just need to pour the solution all over your tiles and leave it there to soak in for a few minutes. Your bathroom is going to fill with fumes at this point as the chemical dissolves all the dirt in your grouting. Once you’re waiting period is done, you just need to grab a light brush and scrub out all the dirt.
And that’s all there is to it. Usually, you’re so delighted with the results you have that you never want to put off using oxygen bleach grout cleaner ever again. Just in case you find you’re not a fan if this kind of work, you could use a grout sealer that could prevent your grouting from getting dirty over again. Of course, the sealer product isn’t an environmentally pleasant choice to take. But what can you do?
