Colors in Kitchen Interior Design
You have a lot to think about when you want to redo your kitchen. This room is something that you want to look good as well as be functional. Maneuvering through your kitchen should be your first concern, so put a lot of time into laying out your new kitchen. After you have that down, you can then worry about the colors and style of your colors for kitchen interior design. You can go with old fashioned, new age, classic, or artsy. Do what you feel suites your style the best because you spend a lot of time in this room and you want that time to be relaxing and fun.
Don’t go too dark with kitchen interior design colors, but don’t be afraid to use dark for some of your kitchen. As a good rule, you can use dark for your cabinets or for your counter top, but not for both. If you use a light stain that covers all of your cabinets, you can use a dark colored counter top and the room will look large and bright. If you use a dark stain, or paint your cabinets black, use a light colored counter top color. You can even get a light granite or marble with a touch of black so they flow together well.
Your appliances should also go with your new kitchen interior design. If you go with a lot of sleek and modern colors and color schemes, you want to get new looking or modern appliances that are made with stainless steel. If you want something that is light all over, and you want a more relaxed, country, or beach style design, you can get all white appliances. Some like to get black, but make sure they go with your dĂ©cor and don’t make your kitchen too dark. Most often, appliance colors should compliment the style as well as the colors you have chosen.
Flooring is another consideration in kitchen interior design. Some people like the floor to match the counter top, which can be a good look. However, if you have dark counter top, a dark floor may not be the best choice overall. Instead, go with something in the same color family, but lighten it up. Dark floors are very hard to keep clean and they can make a room look smaller and darker. Most will end up avoiding a dark color for the floors in any room of the house unless it is a very large room.
At this point, you may think that wall color is just another choice for kitchen interior design and you may choose anything just to get the process to be over. You don’t want to do that. If you have a small kitchen and you feel that the colors for everything else are enough, choose a light, neutral color. If you have a kitchen that has a lot of light colors, go with a dark color that compliments your cabinets and/or your counter top. If you have a lot of open wall space, you obviously want to put more thought into the color than if you have very little wall space left for paint as many have in a smallish kitchen.
